It is said that eyes are the windows to our soul. Whatever goes on in our mind and heart, the diverse emotions which we experience almost on a daily basis can all be witnessed through our eyes. Although every sensory organ which most of us are blessed with is unique and special in their own way, your eyes are one sensory organ which stands apart from the rest. This is because your eyes are the first thing which attract and appeal to the whole world. Hence, it is about time that we start taking sufficient care of those little twinkles. This post provides you with easy to follow tips on how to take care of your eyes.

Follow a healthy diet

What you eat is what shows on your external body. Hence, it is very crucial that you incorporate lot of green leafy vegetables, raw salads like spinach, carrots, beans, collards etc in your meals. Apart from this, foods like egg, fish especially tuna, salmon, nuts, oranges etc need to compulsorily go into your daily diet as these contain essential vitamin C and E which are needed for giving you healthy and bright eyes.

Wear your glasses

Although many of you may have the habit of wearing sunglasses when stepping out in the sun, nevertheless, if you are amongst the few who don’t, then it is high time that you do so. This is because the sun emits out harmful UV rays which may damage your eyes. Hence, it is always advisable to put polarized sunglasses which cover 90 to 100% of the harmful UV rays.

Take some break

If your job involves spending endless hours on the computer, due to which your eyes start feeling exhausted at the end of the day, this is a sign that you need to start taking care of them on daily basis. So what you can do is after every hour, you can take a small or a mini break and just sit with your eyes closed for 5 minutes. This will give your eyes the necessary rest and they will not get unduly strained. Alternatively, you can also wear glasses just as a precautionary measure while working on the computer.

Follow a checkup routine

Undeniably, your eyes are the most priceless asset which you must take care of. Hence, start following a set routine of going for regular eye checkups once in six months. This will help you in understanding the health of your eyes and in case if there is any problem, then the same won’t go unnoticed.

8 Ways To Lose Weight When You’re On A Budget And Have A Busy Schedule

We all know gym memberships can be really expensive and to top it all, eating healthy comes at a hefty price too. All the Maggi you’ve been eating might be cheap but it’s not doing you any favours health wise. Losing weight can be an expensive and time consuming affair but there are a few small things that you can do that will go a long way in making you fitter. We’ve compiled a list of the little things that you can do that won’t take too long and help you lead a healthier lifestyle.

1.  Take your time while eating your meals, there’s no need to rush.
You might have an immensely busy schedule but you need to devote proper time to eating your meals. Eating on the go and in a rush will only lead to over-eating. In addition, your body can make better use of the food you’ve eaten when it’s properly chewed so remember to eat slowly!
             2. Pack your meals from home.
You’re broke so the best thing to do is take home cooked, healthy meals to work. This will not only help you save money but also help you cut out the junk from your diet.

3.  Cut out the alcohol from your diet all together.
This might not be the easiest thing to do but it is the quickest method to save a huge chunk of money and cut down on a large amount of calories at the same time. Plus, alcohol also gives you the munchies so you land eating more when you’re drunk adding even more calories to your roster.

     4.   Stop using supplements.
Supplements are quite expensive and quite useless if not combined with a proper workout regime. Some supplements can even be harmful for you if not taken properly. You can look into making your own supplements for an energy boost before hitting the track.

           5.  Walk wherever you can.
Needless to say doing little things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator at work and walking short-distances will help you burn calories and won’t take up a lot of your time. This is by far the easiest thing

      6. Use your body weight to work out instead of hitting the gym.
You can YouTube hundreds of videos that will teach you how to exercise at home using your body weight instead of investing in an expensive gym membership. You can even invest in exercise bands from Cosco that won’t cost you a lot and greatly assist you with your workouts.

     7. Spend the money you have wisely.
Invest in a bottle of Olive oil and substitute it for your regular oil. Olive oil can serve as a tasty salad dressing and is also really good for the heart. Eat lots of Almonds as they help torch fat and support lean muscle.

8 .Stick with your efforts even if you don’t see results immediately.
Losing weight takes a long period of time and it’s unlikely you will see results instantaneously. There are no shortcuts because losing weight isn’t just about looking good but also about becoming healthier and that’s what your end goal should be. If you consistently work towards this goal you are bound to feel better over a period of time and you will feel the change in your body.

How to Prepare Well For a Blood Test - Dr LalChandani Labs

Due for your annual physical exam and dreading the blood work? Fear of pesky needles, injections or blood draws is quite common but tests are sometimes essential for our well-being. To ensure accurate results, minimal discomfort and a smooth process here are some simple preparation tips.

Tests for cholesterol and glucose require fasting. This means no eating and drinking (besides water) at least for 10-14 hours before having your blood drawn. It’s important to confirm with your physician beforehand if you need to fast.
Remain Hydrated:
Make sure you are well hydrated. Drink plenty of fluid. This will keep dizziness at bay and also make it easier to find the veins for the blood sample.
Activities to Avoid:
Refrain from strenuous physical exercise, smoking, and intake of caffeinated drinks before a blood draw. It can sometimes skew the test results.
Eat Breakfast:
Unless specified, eat breakfast or a light snack. This will prevent you from feeling nauseous or lightheaded before blood removal.
Inform Technician of Medication:
Don’t discontinue regular medications, unless advised otherwise.  If you are taking blood-thinners or seizure medication, inform the technician before the blood test. After the procedure is completed he will observe the puncture site, to make sure the bleeding has stopped.
It’s important to relax when the phlebotomist draws your blood. Don’t wiggle and fidget, as it may lead to more than one prick. If you’re nervous or anxious, avert your eyes and focus on breathing to distract your mind.
Brief Process:
Though most of us are squeamish about getting blood drawn, the process if handled by a proficient phlebotomist is short, simple and painless. Before you know it, the needle is out and the gauze plastered on the puncture site to stop bleeding.

Once you’re done with the blood test, head to cafĂ© for a healthy breakfast and get on with your day. Just remember to follow the phlebotomist’s instructions and not yank the bandage too soon. It might result in bruising.
