This is a male hormone but is formed in female as well in a small quantity. As in men, it plays a major role in libido, bone density and muscle strength. When its presence is too high in a female, it leads to polycystic ovarian syndrome, heart diseases, excessive hair growth. Maintaining it in a healthy range is important.

Thyroid hormones

The body’s metabolism is controlled by thyroid hormones. Apart from maintaining a healthy weight, they are responsible for your energy levels and conditions of the skin, hair and nails.

Prolactin

Prolactin is a lactation-promoting hormone. It affects various other hormones in the body and is responsible for the production of milk. Too high or too low levels affect lactation in a woman. Monitoring its level is significant for overall health conditions.

PRECAUTIONS YOU MUST TAKE TO FIGHT AGAINST NORTHERN INDIA’S SMOG

The dense smog in which we woke up this Tuesday made breathing difficult and realized us that these is a public health emergency situation in North India. People were complaining about the zero visibility on roads and many other health issues like dryness in their throats, coughing, burning sensation in eyes, itchy skin and irritation in nose. The primary sources of smoke are lit garbage, stubble burning, road dust, factories, power plant and vehicles. There’s a major need to take steps to ensure that not only kids are staying indoors but other adults are also careful of the dangerous problems this pollution can lead to.

Dr LalChandani Labs suggesting some ways to escape the harsh air quality that has led to a public health emergency situation:

1. Try to stay inside as much as possible – People, who regularly exercise, shift their workout
sessions indoor for a time being. Schools are already closed for this week and if you can take
work from home option, take that leverage and avoid pollution as much as you can. Avoid
traveling at peak hours when pollution is relatively high.

2. Follow healthy diet and drink a lot of water – To flush off air pollutants that have entered your
body and detoxify your system, drink loads of water and follow a strictly healthy diet. Include
basil leaves and honey in your diet to boost your immune system. Eat jiggery (Gud) as much as
you can to save your lungs from Delhi air now.

3. Use a pollution mask – Buy a pollution mask from a nearby medical store. If unavailable, use a clean cloth to cover your mouth and nose.
4. Keep indoor plants –Keep plants inside and around your house so that the surrounding air is
clean and void of pollutants. This is the most effective way to breathe fresh air.

5. Use public transport or closed vehicles– Avoid using open vehicles to travel such as scooties, bikes, and autos. Take the metro or bus if the distances are far off. Avoid using cars and try car pooling as we don’t want the pollution levels to increase further than they already are.
6. Avoid bursting crackers – Due to any occasion/reason/celebration, no matter how happy or
tempted, AVOID bursting crackers.

7. Try using electric cookers instead of gas – In such circumstances, don’t add anything to the
already worse situation. Hence, using anything electric over anything fuel best is the way to go.

DON’T FORGET YOUR HEALTH ON DIWALI

The festive season is right around the corner. Many of you must have already started your Diwali preparations by this time. After all, Diwali is the biggest festival of India. It is during this auspicious time that families get together and celebrate. And no celebrations are complete without little indulgence. This often results in putting in some kilos of weight. But did you know that you can stay healthy even by indulging in some sweets. Let us see how you can do that.
This post provide you with some helpful health tips on how to stay fit and healthy even during the time of festivities by following some easy tips. Keep reading this post for more details.

Keep Your Airways Clean

Say not to crackers. If you have to burn crackers then make sure that you equip yourself and wear masks to cover your nose and mouth in order to prevent contracting any diseases. If you are already suffering from asthma or any respiratory problem, then wearing a mask when outdoors is mandatory for you.

Gift and Eat Smart

Since Diwali is also that time of the year to gift your near and dear ones with gifts and sweets, make a smart decision to switch to low fat or sugar free sweets. These days’ sweet shops prepare special sugar free sweets also. It’s just that you need to order for it slightly in advance. So plan well and make a conscious decision of protecting your as well as your near and dear ones health by opting for sugar free sweets.

Check Your Sugar Intake

In the euphoria of celebrating Diwali with your near and dear ones, we often buy packaged sweets from the supermarket without even looking at it for the second time. But that is not a correct practice to follow.
When picking up sweets from the supermarket or store rack, always make it a point to check the expiry date of that sweet. More often than not, supermarkets usually have the expiring soon products in the front while the fresh ones slightly behind just so that you pick those nearing expiry. So be careful and check the date before billing.

Avoid Roadside Food

Festivals are all about food. Another precaution which you must exercise is that you should, under no circumstances compromise on the quality of food which you consume or buy even for gifting. Always buy sweets from a reputed and known sweet shop or sweet mart as then you know that the products which go into making that box of mithai is of good quality, standard and hygiene level.
Avoid consuming sweets from a local sweet mart as for a lower cost, quality gets compromised and your health may go in for a toss resulting in you getting diagnosed with a number of health ailments like food poisoning, dysentery etc. So stay safe.

Limit Your Alcohol Intake

While Diwali is a festival of lights, it is also the season for having card parties which are more often than not, accompanied with cocktail parties. It is quite easy in such circumstances to go over board and have the extra pegs on the request of your friends. Nevertheless, it is definitely not a good sign medically and can be a cause for a wide range of severe medical ailments. So, this Diwali drink reasonably and stay healthy.
To be on the safer side, you should also undergo medical tests to see if you are suffering from any medical problem in case you tend to consume the outside sweets and other delicacies. You should get this test done at Dr Lalchandani Labs where you can get all the tests done under one roof and at affordable rates and packages.

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CHILD FROM STOMACH INFECTION DURING MONSOONS

Monsoons are a great relief after the scorching summer heat for children. Most of the parents do not allow the kids to venture out in the afternoon for outdoor play due to the heat. With the onset of monsoon, children are relieved that they would at least enjoy the outdoor sports in this rainy season. This rainy season not only lets them enjoy the sport of their choice, it also fulfills the fairy tale dream of every child of dancing in the rain. Not many of us have forgotten the paper boats, we used to drift in water during monsoon. Every child loves to do the same.
As a parent, you would love to see that sparkle in your child’s eye. But, your responsibilities of protecting them from the hazards of monsoons also increase manifold. Your child can suffer from stomach illnesses during this time mostly because of food or water.

The germs in the water or food during the rainy season can contaminate your food and can cause illnesses like gastritis, food poisoning, diarrhea, gastroenteritis, cramps, vomiting and nausea etc. To avoid the stomach infection in children, it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that the children are given extra care during monsoons.

How to Protect Your Child From Stomach Infection During Monsoons

Serve Properly Cooked Food

Rains are the breeding season for mostly all the animals. The same applies for germs. The germs can contaminate the food, which can only be avoided by serving properly and rightly cooked hot food. The rightly cooked food has least possibilities of infections as germs get killed by the heat. Serving hot food will reduce the possibilities of catching a cold also. Meat and eggs should never be under cooked to avoid infections.

Boiled Water

Boiled water is the only lifeline to avoid any infection caused due to water. Children are vulnerable to diseases and boiled water settles their stomach.

Avoid Unhygienic Food

This is especially for the mothers who allow their kids to eat street food or food from restaurants. In no circumstances it should be allowed. You do not know how hygienic the food is which your child is eating; neither do you know the sanitary condition in which it was prepared and the water that was used. Often uncovered food becomes a stage for the flies to dance on and spread germs. Do not give in to the temptations of your children.

Healthy and Nutritious Food

Healthy and nutritious home cooked food is the key to the good health of children. Maintaining the nutrition and the balanced diet, serve your kids home cooked food what they like to eat, even if it is pasta sometimes.

Washing Hands

This should be a habit children should follow not just during monsoons but throughout the year. Washing hands ensure that they do not have residue germs from outside dirt or after using the toilet. It is important to teach them and inculcate this habit in them to avoid the pains later.

Avoid Swimming

Avoid Swimming During Monsoons
Swimming should be a complete no during rains. The swimming pool is a breeding ground for bacteria to grow manifold and spread diseases. The water eventually lands up in the child’s stomach even if it is in minuscule quantity.
You can ensure good health for your child if you follow these habits. Even after all the necessary precautions, your child catches the infection; you must see a medical practitioner. In the meanwhile, you can add asafoetida and ginger in your child’s diet as necessary precautions as these are found to be great home remedies to cure stomach diseases.
If you child has any symptoms of these ailments, get your child tested for these ailments at a trusted lab www.lalchandanipathlab.com.
